Electric Force

Electric force is the force of attraction or repulsion between two electrically charged objects.

For two point charges, it is given by Coulomb’s law: ${F=\frac{1}{4\pi\varepsilon_0}\frac{|q_1q_2|}{r^2}}$ where:

• $F =$ electric force

• $q_1,q_2 =$ charges

• $r =$ distance between the charges

• $\varepsilon_0 =$ permittivity of free space

• Like charges → repel each other.

• Unlike charges → attract each other.
